March Madness is the month of college basketball tournaments. Many people make brackets and bet money on them. There are national competitions to see who was closest to a perfect bracket, and you get a lot of money if you win. There has never been a perfect bracket in the history of NCAA March Madness.

The reason why is because of upsets. This year, there were a few MAJOR upsets that everyone is talking about.

The first upset was Middle Tennessee (No. 12) VS. Minnesota (No. 5). Minnesota was ahead 7-0 early in the game. However, Middle Tennessee relentlessly took command by destroying the Gophers in rebounding (37-24). The final score was 81-72. Millions of peoples brackets were completely ruined by this upset.

Another HUGE upset was Villanova (No. 1) VS. Wisconsin (No. 8). Wisconsin hit 53% of their shots, while Villanova hit only 41%. They were tied 62-62 in the fourth quarter and getting ready to go into O.T. In the last 20 seconds, Wisconsin’s Bronson Koenig made a three-pointer to win the game. The closing score was 65-62. Numerous people had Villanova going all the way, but that obviously didn’t happen.

This upset was one that all Michigan fans were overjoyed about! It was Michigan (No. 7) VS. Louisville (No. 2). The Wolverines were down by 8 in the second half. They swept past the Cardinals with 63% shooting. It was a VERY exciting and stressful game for both teams. Michigan pulled through, winning 92-91. Nobody expected Michigan to come through with the win, but they pulled it off somehow.

The college teams that were upset by other teams will be calling March Madness, March Sadness. This year’s tournament has been one of the most exciting tournaments yet!
